First what is it?
Headlight Restoration is the process of removing yellow oxidised clear coat and plastic from the surface of Plastic headlights.
Glass headlights do not oxidise so do not require this.
Oxidation happens due to daily exposure to the sun’s harmful U.V rays and a build up of dirt, salt and grime that can not be removed by washing alone.
If they get too bad It is an M.O.T failure as it affects visibility and safety at night. Great news though. You don't have to buy new units.
